What a summer!

I had really hoped that this summer would be an easy, relaxed one. Sabrina starts school in 17 days, and, so far, this summer has been insane!

I found out earlier this week that I have to have a root canal, so I'm going next week to have it done. Thankfully it's on a weekend, so Chris will be home to deal with the kids!

My ablation surgery is on the 21st, and I'm looking forward to having that over and done with.

James had his EEG a few weeks ago. We got the results yesterday, and, thankfully, everything came back completely normal! Given the fact that I have epilepsy, the neurologist wanted to rule out any seizure activity in James. So far things are coming back great with him. Per all the evaluations, he does NOT have Autism or Asperger's Disorder. He is just very intense and, even at his most laid back, his emotions are just "more" than average. All in all, he boils down to just average. There are some areas that he tested at just under a 3 year old level, but other areas he was testing at a 4 year old level. The evaluators said that a score of 118-120 is average. James came in at 132. He's very bright, just very intense. They said his speech should improve the more he's around other kids.

Since his health is so much better than what it was even a year ago, I'm more comfortable with him being around other kids. Over the past 2 years, anytime he was around other kids, he was sick within 3 days, usually with croup. When he was 18 months old, he started having problems with croup, and had it 9 times between September and January. That was a very long winter. Last year he only had 1 bout. It appears that we have it under control. His cyclic vomiting syndrom is under control, too, provided he stays on his daily medication for it. Hopefully we're over the worst of all his health issues!

Blue Table Play Date

So, it took all year to get together outside of our MOPS meeting. And it took me almost 2 months to actually post these, but the Blue Table finally got together! We Rayna, Samantha, and I met over at Stephanie's house for a morning of coffee, chatting, and kids playing. The kids had a great time playing together, and the photographer in Rayna popped out to capture the moments for us.

Prayers

I am really praying that we can get James into preschool on a scholarship this fall. The occupational & speech therapists, as well as the pediatric psychologist, all feel that being in a preschool environment will "force" James to keep his temper under control, as well as assist with his speaking. His scores on everything came out to average. He's placing just under the age of 3 in a few areas, right at a 3 year old level on others, and up to a 4 year old level in others. Basically he's just a bright kid...he just has some weird sensory issues. They said he does NOT have Autism or Asperger's Disorder.

Sabrina is going to Calvary Chapel up in Merritt Island for their VPK program. I'm filling out a scholarship application now for James, in hopes that if we can pay 50% of the tuition costs, maybe we can get a scholarship for the remainder, plus I put on there that I can contribute daily in office assistance and / or be a teacher's aide. Hopefully by showing my willingness to work, they'll be more likely to consider giving the scholarship.

I had my results appointment yesterday, and I am a candidate for the endometrial ablation. They'll call in a few weeks and set up the surgery date. The good news with that is that I will only be "out of commission" for a few days. Since they do the proceedure on Thursday mornings, I'd be home by Thursday afternoon, and should be back to normal by Monday. Chris will be able to take a few days off of work, as we have a lot of leave time and comp. time available.

That's pretty much all that's going on here. I was going to be heading for New York this weekend, but, due to health issues on my sister-in-law's end, that's postponed until some other time. So, I'm going to hit the outlet mall this weekend, without kids, for some much needed retail therapy.
